ACCOMPANIST

Beverly Hazelwood

Beverly Hazelwood is only the second accompanist for Masterworks Choir since its inception in 1979, serving as both rehearsal accompanist and performance organist/pianist. In September 1994, she followed the very gifted Lucy Thomas, who accompanied the choir for twelve years with talent and dedication. She is Chair of the Masterworks Choir Endowment Committee.

Mrs. Hazelwood has held organist positions in Charleston, Baltimore, and Florence, and is currently music associate at Central United Methodist Church, where she accompanies the adult choir, serves as chapel organist, and directs the handbell ringers.

She was one of the driving forces that led to the establishment of the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center, which was a 13-year project, resulting in an outstanding music performance venue. She is a board member of the McLeod Foundation and the McLeod Board of Trustees. Beverly is a highly respected community leader whose aim is to improve the quality of life in the Florence region through the arts, as well as medical and social programs.
